This is a great reference for programmers who want to move away from console programming. Read more Read less. I guess technically both books teach you how to “Program Windows”, but the APIs are so dramatically different that it doesn’t seem right to publish it under the micrpsoft title. Jan 18, Yi rated it it was amazing Shelves: This book served as a edotion, detailed, but basic introduction to the Win32 API. There are places in the book where he will delve into details that you could care less about, and there are points that he will put in two or three sentences and assume you understand, although you may not.
It addresses winxows world issues and real world solutions to those problems such as the chapter dedicated to making unicode friendly programsas well as some historical issues the difference between wParam and lParam. The book is so old that even I used it to learn Presss programming, back when everything was bit and uphill both ways.
